A family spokesperson confirmed Picton died early on Monday morning, surrounded by his loved ones.<\/p>\n
Picton was found unconscious outside a licensed premises in Northbridge, Perth, at 5.30am on December 27 after Western Australian police received reports of a disturbance.
\nThe 36-year-old fell after being allegedly assaulted, striking his head on the pavement, with police saying several bystanders rushed to his aid.<\/p>\n
Brodie Jake Dewar, 20, was charged with grievous bodily harm following the incident and will front court in February.

Picton also previously worked as an advisor for Senator Don Farrell in the federal Gillard government, then in the office of former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews.<\/p>\n
His latest role was strategy director for mining company Mineral Resources.<\/p>\n
